stream of funding for contra Nicaragua operation :  

  (a) Congress, initially it seems, provided funding for it; 
  (b) when Congress, cut funding for various reasons, Iran-Contra arms sales provided some parts of the operational budget; 
  (c) drug trafficking [smuggling] does appear to provide some stream of funding for parts of the operational budget; how much it is unclear?; what should be obvious is that as long as they can distribute and sell the drug, they should have a stream of fund for the operation (it is a straight forward business model, except the product is illegal and addictive); is this stream of funding enough?; is it too much?; how much of the drug trafficking was just making money and putting the money their own pocket, and, how much of it got transfer to contra Nicaragua operation, who is to know?; 
  (d) when Congress cut off the funding, another stream of funding seems to be large sum donations from wealthy foreigners from various countries (this should be checked out);
